FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is 1863 Escape Room a franchise?

1863 Escape Room is not a franchise. We are a local, small, and veteran owned business. Our puzzles are designed and built in-house by our passionate and dedicated staff and owners.

What is an escape room?

An escape room is an interactive adventure game in which players are placed in a room and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles to escape or complete a challenge within set time limit. The games are physical versions of "escape the room" video games.

Are we really locked inside the room?

No, the current format of our games do not involved being "locked" inside of the room.

How much does it cost?

All of our bookings are now private, which involves a tiered pricing system, the larger the group you have the less the cost per person will be. Reservations are recommended and walk-ins will be accepted based on availability. Reservations can be booked through this website or in person on location.

How many people can play at the same time?

Our escape rooms are designed for 2 - 10 players, however we do allow more than 10 players with pre-approval. All of our bookings are now private, which means you will be playing with only the participants in your group.

How early should we arrive for our reservation?

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your start time, but no more than 20! This is extremely important. You must arrive on time to participate. When you arrive you will receive a quick briefing on the game. Then the challenge begins! You will have 60 minutes to solve the mystery.

What happens if I am late?

These are live-action events. You must arrive on time in order to participate. We cannot wait for latecomers as there are other appointments scheduled. Leave ample time to allow for traffic and parking. If you arrive after your scheduled appointment you will have a reduced time to play the game.

Can children play the game?

Many children love to solve puzzles and clues. The rooms have puzzles that may be difficult for children. We do not restrict the age of children, but we do recommend that they are age 10 and above. When you complete the online booking you are also signing a waiver for your group and children under the age of 17.

Where are you located? Where should I park?

1863 Escape Room is located in the Historic District of downtown Gettysburg, right next to Reid’s Winery & Cider House and Mr. G’s Ice Cream. There is ample street parking around our facility and we are easily accessible and within walking distance from the parking garage or lots located behind our building (Lincoln Elementary School).
